Recycled images

I sometimes go through magazines and I cut out images with the idea in mind of reusing them later. This is a collage I created using the idea of romantic vs.urban imagery. The guy in the picture is the musician Frank Lizt.

Trying out my other hand

I was doodling with my non-dominant hand (I am right handed) and came up with the idea of doing a drawing using first my left hand to draw and then my right hand.
This is the result.

Oddly enough, I prefer the drawing that I did with my left hand.

Comedy vs Tragedy

When thinking about opossites, the masks which represent the comedy and the tragedy came to mind. The following image also tries to depict oppossites, as the mask side of the drawing has a restricted color palette, while the other side shows bright colors and lots of contracts as far at the treatment of the image goes.
I kind of like my young girl with blue hair. What do you think?

The Four Elements

While thinking about opposites, I stumbled upon the idea of the four elements and voila! Here there are three variations on the theme.
In the first one,a very rough draft I drew images than to me represented these elements.
In the second sketch, I condensed the elements to a minimum; then I placed them inside a square as if to make them fit a pattern. I like how it turned out, specially the quality of the strokes.

In the third piece, I decided to tackle the idea of the four elements using images and then adding some crayon touches. I think the free flowing composition works ok, but I prefer the second piece.

Highly Prized

January's theme for The Sketchbook Challenge was: Highly Prized, so I created two images that to me represent what is highly prized to me. The first image is my idea of SANTE or health; as without health we cannot really function.

The second thing I treasure the most is my creativity: Creativity in the realm of the arts, but also in other areas from my life: from budgeting my expenses to arranging my closets to writing a CV. Hence, here is a toast to the month of January and all of its highly prized "elements".
