Matisse and Neruda: my inspiration

Spring is in the air and I am feeling full of creativity and joy. I have even started reading poetry of all things... and I haven't done that since I was in college! LOL!
So I am feeling quite inspired by Neruda and also by Matisse. Here are my lovers in a red room which takes after a famous red room painted by Matisse.

It pleases me your silence
because it is as though you are absent,
and you hear me from afar,
and my voice cannot touch you.

It seems
that your eyes had flown,
and that a kiss had sealed your mouth.
As all things are filled by my soul,
you emerge from such things
filled with my soul.
Butterfly of dreams,
you are like my soul
and you are like the word

It pleases me that you're still
and that it is like you are distant.
It is as though you are saddened,
butterfly of lullabies,
and you hear me from afar,
and my voice cannot reach you.
Let me grow still
with your silence,
and let me speak to you
with your silence;
it is clear like a light,
simple like a ring.
You are as the night,
silent and with eyes of stars.
Your silence is like a star's,
so far away and unadorned.

It pleases me your silence
because it is as though you are absent,
distant and anguished
as if you had died.
A word then,
a smile is enough.
And I am gladdened,
glad that it is not so.

Poetry: Dos Cuerpos

Another poem by Octavio Paz...
another outing of bluegirl and greenboy...
Worlds collide and spring is in the air...

Dos Cuerpos
Octavio Paz

Two Bodies

Two bodies face to face
Are at times two waves
And the night is an ocean.
Two bodies face to face
Are sometimes two stones
And the night a desert.
Two bodies face to face
Are at times two roots
Intertwined in the night.
Two bodies face to face
Are sometimes two stilettos
And night lightening sparks.
Two bodies face to face
Are two stars who are falling
In a naked sky.

Once upon a time, there was a blue girl that lived in a beautiful region where there were lavender fields, olive trees and cherry orchards. One day, Spring finally arrived, and with it came joy and happiness into the blue girl's life... so she continued to be blue... but only as far as her name went...

Swap-bot: Mail art April

I have joined a new mail art swap for the month of April. My partner lives in the Netherlands and she loves lions, the color blue, tea and white roses. It sure its fun to create a personalized envelope for someone one has never met. I just hope she likes it!

Poetry: Escrito con Tinta Verde

This week I read a poem by Mexican Nobel winner Octavio Paz. Since I couldn't take it out of my head, I created an image that goes with it. The second image is more dreamy... but then, I altered it by using a filter.

Escrito con tinta verde

Octavio Paz

Brazos, cintura, cuello, senos,
la frente pura como el mar,
la nuca de bosque en otoño,
los dientes que muerden una brizna de yerba.

Tu cuerpo se constela de signos verdes
como el cuerpo del árbol de renuevos.
No te importe tanta pequeña cicatriz luminosa:
mira al cielo y su verde tatuaje de estrellas.

Written in green ink
Octavio Paz

Green ink makes garden, forest, fields,
trees full of leaves where letters sing,
words that are trees,
phrases appearing as green constellations.

Permit my words' descent cover your whiteness
like a rain of leaves on a field of snow,
like ivy on the statue,
ink on this page.

Arms, waist, neck, breasts,
forehead pure as the sea,
a neck of forests in the fall,
teeth biting a blade of grass.

Your body is constellated in green images
like a tree's body, covered with green shoots.
Never mind the scar, little and luminous:
look up at the sky and its green tattoo of stars.

Photo Gallery N°1

I am trying to get back into the swing of things, but I am finding difficult posting often in my blog...
So this post is about a photo-exchange over at Swap-bot... I took this picture last summer at the Festival d'Avignon which is a very important theater festival where more than 600 plays are shown on a three-week-period. I particularly like this picture because of its composition and because it shows the spontaneity of the festival (where the companies advertise themselves in any possible way... even covering streets entirely with their posters).

This picture is currently on its way to Buenos Aires in Argentine!
